Humans cannot communicate with animals properly through languages, so we have to guess the meaning of other species’ behaviors. In most cases, we believe in our assumptions as no one is likely to refute them, but sometimes, the truth turns out to be a far cry from what we suppose. One real-world example is in the story of the German Shepherd below. 

On many days in a row, visitors to the graveyard of Novi Beograd, Belgrade, Serbia, noticed a dog digging a huge hole in a grave. After being posted on the internet, the story went viral out of the blue. People assumed that the poor German Shepherd was trying to get close to her demised owner, which touched their hearts.

However, the truth was completely different from netizens’ imagination, though it wasn’t less heartbreaking. The dog turned out to be a stray looking for a place for her little puppies. She ended up in the cemetery and picked a random grave to create a shelter.

Fortunately, a dog lover, Vesna Mihajloski, found the courageous mother and her adorable babies and decided to take them home. The dogs seemed friendly and happy to receive food from the rescuers. The dog family then was given check-ups and necessary medical care. Most importantly, however, they were provided with a warm and lovely shelter with lots of care and love from gentle people.

The mother dog seemed so grateful to the kind woman who gave her and her lovely babies a chance to live and thrive.
